NEDMUG has expanded our focus again! This time we are adding FUN!

When NEDMUG first started we were primarily Media Center and Extender focused. Then we added Windows Home Server because of the Media Center integration.

Now we are adding Xbox! Because an Xbox can be used as an Extender, Media Player, Game Console and a Play-To device, it only makes sense to include it as part of the Home Theater family.

So starting in May, there will be a rotation of meetings. Each Quarter there will be a meeting on Media Center, one on Windows Home Server and one on Xbox! I'm working on getting contacts in the Xbox development community and Chris Bowen from Microsoft has offered to help. Hopefully we'll get to see some Demos of new games BEFORE ANYONE ELSE SEES THEM! We might even get to play them.

Please remember that we are now meeting in MPR-C. That is the room closest to the elevators.

June Meeting Agenda
  • 6:30 - 7:00 Meet & Greet
  • 7:00 - 9:00 Xbox/RockBand - Ever wanted to try out RockBand? Here's a chance to do it projected on a 7 foot screen and sound system. We may also have the use of a couple of Plasma Monitors and Xbox systems, courtesy of Microsoft. We'll probably have a LOT more than just RockBand. Hoping to have a bunch of games and systems to test and play. Bring a friend!

Weekly Chat Every Thurs, 7PM-10PM EST.

Open forum, no set topic.

The chats will be hosted by Microsoft Media Center MVP Pete Stagman (and maybe a few guest MVPs). There may also be some well known Media Bloggers dropping in like:

  • Adam Thursby from Entertainment 2.0
  • Phil Lozen from Living High Def
  • Richard Miller MVP from The Green Button
  • Mike Brown MVP from The Green Button
  • Peter Brown from The Green Button
    • Others may drop in from time to time. Like:
    • Ian Dixon MVP from TheDigitalLifestyle
    • Terry Walsh MVP from WeGotServed
    • Andrew Edney MVP from Using Home Server

There are no set topics and we'll try to answer all the questions you may have about Media Center and what's in the future of Media Center (within the bounds of any Non-Disclosure Agreements). These are not intended to be ExpertZone chats, although we may answer technical questions, they are meant to be a place to discuss Media Center, exchange ideas, tell about successes or failures you may have had and to get to know the people who are active in the community.

The plan is to have these chats EVERY WEEK on the same day and time. Some chats will have a set topic, others will be free form.

You can join the chats here http://www.nedmug.com/LiveChat/tabid/176/room/6/Default.aspx or go to the www.nedmug.com main page and click Live Chat and enter the "Weekly Chats" room.

You do not need to login to join the chat, but only registered site members will be able to view the chat logs.

Hope to see you there!

About NEDMUG

New focus and name for HTPCUG

You all know that we launched the new website (www.nedmug.com) a few months ago but that for now traffic will be redirected here and we will be using both domains. Mail will be coming from HTPCUG.org until the switchover is complete.

With it's new, expanded area of interest, The New England Digital Media Users Group normally meets at the Waltham offices of Microsoft but occasional meetings may take us to new venues.  Meetings are on the third Wednesday of the month.
